CXVIII Meeting of Governors of Central Banks Members of CEMLA

On May 28 and 29, 2025, the CXVIII Meeting of Governors of Central Banks members of CEMLA was held in San Salvador, El Salvador. The meeting was chaired by the Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador.

During the sessions, topics of great relevance to the region were addressed, including global and regional economic outlooks, current monetary policy challenges, the development of the payment system, and the impact of remittances. In addition, a special session was dedicated to generative artificial intelligence and its possible uses in the financial sector. The General Director of CEMLA presented the 2024 Activities Report. The event also included opportunities for institutional exchange, thereby strengthening ties between the region's central banks.

The CEMLA Board of Governors also met to present the Activities Report and the 2024 Exercised Budget, which highlight the Center's main achievements for the year. A revised version of the 2025 Modified Budget was also approved, adjusted to CEMLA's current needs.

Finally, the Center's Assembly was held to carry out the election process for the Board of Governors for the 2025–2027 term. The new Board of Governors is composed of: Banco Central de Chile, Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten, Banco Central de la República Argentina, Banco Central de la República Dominicana, Banco Central do Brasil, Banco de España, and Banco de Mexico. The Board of Governors will be chaired by the Banco de España.
